About Me

I'm Lizz and I like to run.

My dad has always been a runner and ran the Chicago marathon a few times as I was growing up. I was always so impressed with him, but just assumed it was something I could never do. In college I ran on and off  to sweat off the extra frozen burritos and bags of candy, but I couldn't keep up with it for more than a month or two at a time. My last year of school I got married. I was also doing marketing for my University's dining services at the time so I had free lunch every day. Marriage + free unhealthy lunch = gaining weight. I was starting to teeter on a unhealthy BMI and turned once again to my old friend running. This time, however, something stuck and I have been running consistently ever since. So far I have run four marathons and will be running my 5th in June. I am just about 4 minutes away from qualifying for Boston and think this will be the race I finally do it!

I am not going to pretend like my story is super inspirational or that it hasn't been told a million times before. I also don't think I am an amazing runner, but I do work hard and love to get other people involved! If I can become a runner anyone can. Running is a big part of my life, but I try to not make it my WHOLE life (I'm not perfect at this). I have been doing a little bit better prioritizing lately after too much running lead to me becoming severely anemic and suffering from B-12 deficiency. Both make maintaining an active lifestyle occasionally exhausting, but if I eat well and take my supplements I can find relative normalcy.

There is also my husband Ben and our cat Veronica:
